NVIDIA's Drive PX2 was launched last year and it's essentially a liquid cooled supercomputer for cars. Experts opine that the Drive PX2 from NVIDIA is as powerful as the 150 MacBook Pros. Though the Drive PX2 itself has a super power in terms of its functionality, you should know here that the Drive PX2 runs on 12 CPU cores with a processing power of 8 teraflops (speed measuring unit of a computer system). In short, NVIDIA's Drive PX2 is equivalent to Titan X video cards.
According to the NVIDIA 's claim, the Drive PX2 can pick up an unbelievable operation speed of 24 trillion in a second. In fact, there ias no doubt that Drive PX2 is a truly revolutionary product from NVIDIA that has further introduced an update called Parker system into it.
NVIDIA's Drive PX2
- Parker system in a chip is designed to power the Drive PX2 further. For instance, the Drive PX2 will now have 1.5 teraflops of juice for self driving of the AI cockpits and it comes over and above the existing 24 trillion deep learning operations per second of Drive PX2. In short, the Parker system has an amazing power despite not being as beefy as the other deep learning systems from NVIDIA such as DGX-1.
- You will be surprised to know that Parker system even has the coding and decoding ability of 4000 video streams while they are running at 60 FPS. In other words, Drive PX2 platform is capable of running high end digital dashboards.
- Parker system can be construed as an advanced step towards automatic driving of the cars in the near future. Interestingly, NVIDIA has now got into an assortment of 80 carmakers, university research centres, and F1 suppliers for using Drive PX2. This is in addition to the partnership that NVIDIA already have with Volvo for its XC90.
