Smartphone photography has been taking to the next level with the Hasselblad True Zoom Camera for the Motorola Z smartphones. The camera mounts without any difficulty to the back of Moto Z phones using powerful magnets, and the camera features electronic connection mainly for power and data transmission. The True Zoom Camera dramatically increases graphic capabilities by using a 12MP camera and 10x optical zoom with a 35mm equivalent focal length of 25-250mm. This camera also features an optical image balance to reduce the impact of shutter shake and the camera offers 1080p video in Full HD. Additionally, the camera features a built-in Xenon flash to brighten dark scenes. You can advance your image quality beyond what you normally get in a smartphone with the True Zoom Camera, because it offers you a Pro mode that gives you control over focus, aperture, white balance, ISO, and exposure. It also provides red-eye reduction and few colour effects in addition to standard capture modes. Users will be able to edit and transfer images over cellular connections or Wi-Fi with ease.

Hasselblad True Zoom Review

The Hasselblad true zoom is compatible with Moto Z Droid, Moto Z Play Droid, and Moto Z Force Droid. The most outstanding about feature of the Hasselblad True Zoom is the 10x optical zoom, which can only be offered by few smartphones.

Specifically, the camera features a 12MP 1/2.3″ BSI CMOS sensor, OIS for still shots, f/3.5-6.5 aperture lens, EIS for video, Xenon flash, two microphones, and up to 1080p video recording capacity. The 1080p resolution for video verifies that 4K is not only meant for high-end or flagship phones, it can also be adopted into mid-range phones. You can activate the camera by pressing the dedicated button, which will launch the camera app, but it lacks some much-needed fun modes.

For snapshots, the OIS become active when you pressed the shutter key halfway. It ensure that the scene is as stable as possible to snap the shot. When the zoom is at its maximum that is when you get the best of OIS, because the slightest movement that causes jittery won’t have any effect. OIS is designed to help you have a stable shot.

One of the important advantages of the camera is the zooming, which is useful when you’re trying to capture a long range image. The closest image range that the camera can focus accurately is about 1 meter. The headline feature for the True Zoom is the fact that it is not digital but has optical zoom. The tech is not perfect and still requires a tripod, or a steady hand, for best results. The zoom is controlled by the physical dial on the camera, and the dial sits next to the shutter button. There are some issues with the camera. In regular light, the True zoom camera works fine, but in averse or specialist conditions it struggle.

It's okay to assume better results from a camera like this. But it is surprising that the specs of the Hasselblad True Zoom Camera are very much on the same level to what you can get with smartphone cameras.

Clearly, the distinct advantage of Hasselblad true zoom is its 10x optical zoom, which by all means is the only significant difference.
